About Us
The association is a friendly group of people who share an interest in the history of Adderbury and the surrounding area. We have about 65 members, mostly drawn from the village, and are always keen to welcome new recruits.
For our members we provide an annual programme of ten evening talks. Talks concern the history of Adderbury or the locality, or occasionally general topics in national history. We also provide a well-supported Christmas social function and an annual trip to a place of historical interest during the summer months.
We also like to present the history of Adderbury to a wider audience, through our publications, a programme of guided walks around the village and through occasional exhibitions on Adderbury themes.
Association members carry out research on the history of Adderbury, its buildings, people and changing activities and we are keen to encourage new members to undertake this sort of work for themselves.
The Association’s affairs are run by a committee, elected annually for one year at our Annual General Meeting in April. Our 2021-2022 committee is as follows:
Chairman | Barry Davis |
Secretary | Phil Mansell |
Treasurer | Ros Bailey |
Committee | Jill Adams |
Robert Cooke | |
Jean Davis | |
Fiona Gow | |
Joy Webb | |
Membership of the association is by annual subscription, due in January each year. The subscription for 2022 is £15. We welcome visitors to particular talks at a charge of £4.00 each.
You can contact the association at any time by getting in touch with the secretary, Phil Mansell, at 2 Long Wall Close, Adderbury OX17 3FF, telephone 01295 812125, email: history@adderbury.org
